CAR SHARING INITIATIVE

Gazeley, the owner of Magna Park, Lutterworth distribution park, which employs close to 10,000 people across 26 different businesses, has launched a site wide car sharing initiative. The car sharing scheme, set up through Liftshare, the UK’s largest car sharing community, has proven to be popular amongst employees, with 575 people registering to share their journeys in the first week since launch.

Gazeley has pioneered sustainable distribution at Magna Park and has taken an active approach to managing the impact of workplace travel. By working alongside occupiers including Asda, Unipart and Concorde Logistics, awareness has been raised of the wide range of travel options available to employees, ultimately reducing the flow of traffic to and from Magna Park, Lutterworth.

The Liftshare scheme forms part of a wider travel plan to encourage and facilitate more sustainable travel patterns. It aims to do this by lowering congestion, carbon emissions, pollution and noise; primarily by reducing the number of single occupancy car journeys travelling to the park.

As well as encouraging walking, cycling and car-sharing, the development of the park wide travel plan has identified the need to improve bus links, and has established a gap analysis on existing services to the site. A collaboration between Gazeley, Arriva and Stagecoach, the public transport providers in the area, has enabled service improvement to be implemented, with a bus service now meeting the needs of the park’s businesses and their workplace shift patterns.

For added security, you will need to obtain a security password from your organisation to be able to sign up to our lift share programme.
