Magna Park Donation to Lutterworth Swimmer
Maisie Elliott who recently was awarded a donation from the Magna Park Community Fund is now making news in the Harborough Mail. The article which was featured in early July is as follows:
“A pupil from Lutterworth High School is a step closer to her goal of competing in the International Children’s Games in Taiwan this Summer.
This is in no small part due to a donation from the Magna Park Community Fund.
Maisie Elliot, aged 13, wrote to Gazeley, the owners of nearby Magna Park, in February with the hope of receiving a contribution towards her trip.
After reading her appeal, the business offered her the full amount of £650 to help her attend the games.
Maisie is part of a team of eight City of Leicester swimmers who will represent the UK in New Taipei City, Taiwan, in July. The International Children’s Games is held every year where young people from around the world, aged between 12 to 15, compete in variety of sport events.
Maisie said: “I would like to thank Magna Park very much for helping to fund my trip to Taiwan. I am extremely excited to have been chosen to swim at the 50th International Children’s Games in New Taipei City. The Games are organised with the help of the Olympic Committee and it is a fantastic opportunity for our team of eight swimmers.
“The team are hoping to gain some international medals and I have worked very hard to meet my targets so that I could achieve my place in Taiwan. I hope that this will encourage other children to try hard in sport and to take up swimming. It is a fantastic sport and although I have to work hard, including four mornings at 5am, I always have lots of fun.”
Gwyn Stubbings, on behalf of Gazeley, said: “We are thrilled to contribute towards Maisie’s goal and hope more young people will be inspired to get involved in sport and achieve their goals. The Magna Park Community Fund has donated over £50,000 to local projects to date and we are proud to make a difference to their projects. We are delighted to help this young person achieve her dreams.”
